On a recent weeknight, Jimmy Choo’s creative director, Sandra Choi, logged into Zoom to broadcast live to dozens of Bloomingdale’s customers.

The livestreamed event, organized by the department store, ran for about 45 minutes, during which Choi highlighted some of the biggest trends she’s seeing in footwear this spring — chunky, jeweled sandals, and ballet flats with ribbons. She eventually pivoted to discuss inspirations for post-pandemic fashion and gave viewers a first look at Jimmy Choo’s upcoming summer collection.

Amazon’s sales and profit rise as retailer rides wave of pandemic shopping Inc (AMZN.O), one of the biggest winners of the pandemic, posted record profits on Thursday and signaled that consumers would keep spending in a growing U.S. economy and converts to online shopping are not likely to leave.

Since the start of the coronavirus outbreak, shoppers have relied increasingly on Amazon for delivery of home staples, and the company sees this trend continuing post-pandemic, particularly for groceries.

While brick-and-mortar stores closed, Amazon has now posted four consecutive record quarterly profits, attracted more than 200 million Prime loyalty subscribers, and recruited over 500,000 employees to keep up with surging demand.

Amazon sales beat estimates as pandemic shopping continues Inc. reported a big increase in sales and gave a bullish forecast, continuing a streak of rapid growth even as vaccine rollouts raised the prospect of a return to pre-pandemic shopping habits in the U.S.

First-quarter revenue jumped 44% to $108.5 billion, exceeding analysts’ estimates. Earnings were $15.79 a share, also better than Wall Street expected.

Sales will be between $110 billion and $116 billion in the quarter that ends in June, the Seattle company said in a statement Thursday. Analysts, on average, estimated sales of $108.4 billion, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.
